This week, August 8-14, 2010 is National Health Center Week. According to the NACHC (National Association of Health Care Centers) the second week of August each year is dedicated to recognizing the service and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. This year's commemoration is special because 2010 also marks the 45th Anniversary of the creation of the Health Centers Program.
You can check out the listing of events this week at health centers near you on NACHC. Many are holding open house events and immunization fairs. This is a great opportunity to learn more about how they can help you and your family.
If you are looking health care, insured or uninsured, check out a FQHCs near you.
