Medicare Hospital Compare website not enough help patients make choices

A recent study published in the October issue of the Archives of Surgery, it was found that information available on the Hospital Compare Web site does not appear to help people identify the best hospitals for high-risk surgeries.

We couldn't agree more.

The Hospital Compare website only includes very specific measures of quality, which are regularly debated as to their ability to actually determine whether a hospital as a whole is a "good hospital." So much more is involved in determining whether a hospital is good, or has high quality; for example, do their patients get better? Are patients treated with respect and dignity? Do staff care about their patients? Are they nice? Can patients actually get some sleep in the hospital? How about this...do patients believe they received quality care?

This is why WhereToFindCare.com believes patients should check our hospital reviews before they choose a hospital. You can find answers to these questions and more about a hospital near you.

WhereToFindCare.com LLC provides people with a free, easy to use online research tool to help them make informed health care choices. Please feel free to contact us for more information or browse our media room.
